Co-Op Position

 

Valmet is looking for a four-year college or university student majoring in an engineering field to work in our Neenah, WI facility.  This position will allow you to gain real world experience with a very large, diverse manufacturing company. With this position, you will gain important knowledge on all aspects of a successful business, in addition to using engineering methods learned in college.

Primary Duties

  • Work closely with different groups, such as customer service, purchasing, engineering, shipping, and management to assist with many different tasks. 
  • Compiling reports, creating presentations for customers, communication with suppliers, as well as tracking a project’s daily status is common. 
  • Tasks will range anywhere from helping inventory parts in the shop, analyzing profit margin or sales data, to researching Valmet paper machine drawings.
  • Teamwork and frequent communication with co-workers is necessary to be able to complete tasks.
  • Learning proprietary software is required for success completing assigned projects.
  • Applicant has to be self-driven and motivated, even without direct supervision from management.

Requirements

Applicants must be currently pursuing a four-year bachelors or two-year associates degree in an engineering field. Experience with Excel or willingness to learn about Excel is crucial for success in this position. No prior experience in the pulp and paper industry is required; however, any experience or knowledge will be beneficial. A basic understanding of heavy manufacturing machinery, such as lathes, grinders, or balance machines will help understand the shop processes. Using basic business knowledge, such as profits, overhead, and overall business efficiency is necessary.
