Interior Design Intern

INTERIOR DESIGN INTERN POSITION – DESIGN 2 CONSTRUCT

 

As an Interior Design Intern, you will be an active member of our Interior Design Department, supporting the team in bringing our clients’ visions to life.  You’ll gain exposure to projects from preconstruction through completion, assisting with design development, material selections, and project coordination.

 

This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn, with a passion for design and construction.  Responsibilities will vary by project, but generally include the following:

Essential Responsibilities: While the items listed below are intended to define the major aspects of the position, they are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities.  An important factor in the success of the Interior Design Intern is the understanding that flexibility in helping others is essential for the overall benefit of the company.

  • Collaborate with designers, architects, and project teams on active projects
  • Assist with space planning, interior detailing, and design development
  • Support finish and material research, including flooring, wallcoverings, furniture, lighting, and color palettes
  • Help prepare presentation materials, design boards, and finish schedules
  • Maintain and organize the material/resource library
  • Assist in tracking selections and project-related design items throughout construction
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions around client vision and design solutions
  • Support coordination between departments to help deliver a seamless client experience

 

Position Qualifications:  Below is a list of the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to execute the key responsibilities of the Interior Design Intern:

  • Completion of at least 2 years in a 4+ year Interior Design program (CIDA-accredited preferred) 
  • Working knowledge of Revit 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team

 

Compensation:  Part-time or full-time work is available based on candidate’s availability.  This is a paid hourly position with compensation starting at a minimum of $20/hour. Full-time benefits are available for permanent employees working more than 30 hours per week and include:
