STEP Video Production Intern

The UARC would like to hire a creative undergraduate student with excellent verbal and written communication, creative, technical and problem solving skills. This student will help the UARC teach students and faculty advising related information more effectively using podcasts/videos posted to the UARC website and social media sites. The intention of this project is to reach more students to increase their understanding, engagement, and ultimately their progression, performance and retention at UW Oshkosh. In addition, podcasts and videos would be created to assist with teaching and training faculty advisors to provide them with the tools they need to be knowledgeable regarding advising.

Estimated hours per week: 4 Duration: 26 weeks total (13 weeks in fall, 13 weeks in spring)

Qualifications for the Position:
  • RTF/Journalism/Marketing/Communication/English/IWM background preferred
  • Earned at least 30 credits with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Experience with podcasting and using video/editing software is desirable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self motivated, creative, reliable
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a multi-faceted and fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional time management skills 

Job Duties:
  • Write, record, and edit videos/podcasts to facilitate student and faculty learning of advising related information and promote the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center; the vast majority of these videos are made available on the UARC website (The UARC website has an extremely high volume of use, showing the large number of students and other constituents who look to our website for resources and instruction)
  • Work collaboratively with advisors to develop content
  • Work collaboratively with UARC Technology Intern to post videos and use analytics to track usage
  • Consult with UMC as needed to obtain training, adhere to university branding requirements, and ensure proper UARC branding
