Gruenhagen Conference Center Front Desk Receptionist

Gruenhagen Conference Center is looking for an energetic and outgoing Front Desk Receptionist! Because Gruenhagen is both a conference center and a residence hall, this is a very dynamic position as you will be serving more than UW-Oshkosh students during the academic year. Throughout employment, the desk receptionist will serve a multitude of guests from all over the world!
Summer availability is required for this position, as it is our busiest time of the year! Working during the summer usually guarantees a position for the school year as well. During the summer months, student employees are able to work 40 hours per week, with paid overtime only during special events, such as EAA. During the school year, student employees may work up to 25 hours per week.
 
The shifts during the summer, and on academic year weekends, consists of the following three shifts:
6:45am-12:30pm
12:30pm-6:00pm
6:00pm-11:00PM
The schedule during the academic year is based on classes and student availability, and will be set for the semester in September and February.
 
Being a Front Desk Receptionist means that you are the face of the residence hall, and conference center! You will be interacting with conference guests, domestic, and international students. Because of the diverse interactions, this is a highly sought after position.
Much of the time spent at the desk will be filled with answering phone calls, assisting guests with lodging reservations, and processing mail/packages. This position will enhance skills in the areas of human relations, communications, and process management.
 
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing excellent customer service
Processing personal information for reservations
Serving as an information resource for guests and customers
Processing US Mail in accordance to federal laws
Responding to emails
Taking phone calls
 
The skills we are looking for in this position are listed below:
Effective communication skills and professional etiquette
Diplomacy and diligence
Basic knowledge of Windows Office
Willingness to learn and understand the systems GCC uses such as UWO Portal and Seattle Tech
Cashier experience and basic math skills
Required 2.5 GPA
Willingness to work nights and varied weekend shifts between the hours of 7am and 12am midnight.
