Student Assistant - Marketing Graphic Designer

Job Summary:
The Graphic Designer position provides hands-on experience in graphic design, planning, layout and creative problem solving. The Graphic Designer position completes design work for Reeve Union, University Dining, student involvement and many other campus areas.

A. Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications
  • Create and develop print publications such as brochures, posters, flyers, logos, t-shirts; as well as digital assets for social media and web
  • Experiment with augmented reality filters and create interactive GIF’s
  • Create or incorporate illustrations, pictures and designs to reflect the desired theme and tone of the communications
  • Select colors, images, text style and layout which will reflect brand standards of Reeve Union and the university
  • Utilize creativity to promote events
  • Assist in creative problem solving for Reeve Marketing

Building and Event Support
  • Organize and plan events, following event policies
  • Oversee scheduling and facilitation of programs and displays
  • Research and report on best practices 

Customer Service
  • Assist Reeve Union internal departments with marketing and public relations efforts of our services, conveniences, programs, and activities
  • Work with customers to create and distribute promotional materials
  • Work with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds 

Data Management/Technology
  • Develop and analyze assessment for area of service
  • Develop and maintain thorough records, databases, binders and files











B. Requirements

General
  • Enrolled with a minimum of 6 credits
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Availability based on position (may include evening or weekend hours)
  • Knowledge of Reeve Union policies and procedures

Job Specific
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Have basic knowledge of print-design layout
  • Have basic knowledge of effective web design and tools needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Have basic computer skills such as using the Google Suite and Microsoft Office 365
  • Have excellent organizational skills
  • Have strong analytical skills to assess a problem and apply appropriate solutions
  • Have the ability to work without direct supervision
  • Learn new tasks quickly and accurately
  • Work both independently and as part of a team

Customer Service/Communication
  • Effective communication skills (interpersonally, orally and written) and customer service mindset
  • Act as an information reference both on the telephone and for drop-in customers
  • Be approachable and professional with all customers

  • Speak in public

  • Bend and reach
  • Work with your hands
  • Must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds









C. Preferences

Preference will be given to individuals who
  • Are majoring in graphic design, art, marketing or other related field
  • Have experience in a related field
  • Have previous experience in graphic design/art
