Audiovisual Technician

Audiovisual Technicians are responsible to setup, maintain and troubleshoot meeting room audiovisual systems as well live sound systems used for bands and other entertainers. Audiovisual Technicians provide a high level of quality customer service to student, staff and community customers. Both day, night, and weekend shifts are required, and there is some heavy lifting involved. Summer employment is available but not required.

Essential Tasks/Responsibilities:

A.   Building and Event Support
  1. Be proficient in live sound engineering
  2. Set up, arrange, and tear down of meeting room furniture and equipment
  3. Setup and tear down of meeting room AV equipment
  4. Setup and tear down of live sound systems
  5. Troubleshoot live sound systems and meeting room AV equipment efficiently
B.   Customer Service
  1. Be approachable and professional with all customers
  2. Answer phone calls and provide accurate information
  3. Assist customers to meet their event production goals
  4. Assist customers with meeting room technology
  5. Assist customers with live sound support
  6. Work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
C.   Data Management
  1. Act as an information reference both on the telephone and for customers at service desk
  2. Develop and maintain thorough records, databases, binders, and files
  3. Document processes
D. Effective Communication
  1. Communicate technical information clearly and accurately
  2. Effectively communicate interpersonally, orally, and written
  3. Provide information about upcoming events and services
  4. Check and respond to emails received
E. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Complete detailed and routine tasks
  2. Demonstrate attention to detail
  3. Have basic computer skills such as Google applications and Microsoft Office
  4. Have excellent organizational skills
  5. Have strong analytical skills to assess a problem and apply appropriate solutions
  6. Have the ability to work without direct supervision
  7. Learn new tasks quickly and accurately
  8. Work both independently and as part of a team
F. Technical Equipment Support
  1. Have a working knowledge of live sound equipment
  2. Perform equipment maintenance, inventory, and documentation
G. Physical Requirements
  1. Bend and reach
  2. Lift 50 pounds
  3. Move equipment
  4. Stand for long periods of time
  5. Work with your hands

Majors Considered: All majors considered; preference given to those majoring in Music Industry, Recording, Music Business, or Radio/TV/Film.
