College of Nursing Learning Lab/Sim Lab Student Assistant - STEP/Work Study

Lab/Simulation Student Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO

College of Nursing Lab Manager, Simulation Director, Simulation Coordinator, Simulation Tech

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The student assistant will work closely with the Lab Manager, the Simulation Director, and the Simulation Coordinator to facilitate the daily operations of the College of Nursing Learning Lab areas (Learning Lab, Practice Lab, Simulation Lab, Graduate Lab). Student assistants will be responsible for frequent cleaning of student work areas between lab classes.  Student assistants will also assist in setting up and cleaning up for Simulation and Lab classes on a daily basis, as well as organizing and storing supplies and equipment after the daily Simulation/Lab classes are over. Student assistants will be responsible for helping to sort and store new supplies that are received, as well as for preparing supplies and kits that are re-used from semester to semester.

Strong preference is for this student worker to be a Nursing major; familiarity with the supplies, procedures and equipment is an advantage.  Pre-nursing majors are acceptable and will be trained.

We will also occasionally need our student workers to act as a family member, other healthcare personnel, or a patient in a Simulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Frequent cleaning of Learning Lab and Simulation lab areas, iincluding but not limited to wiping down of simulators (high fidelity manikins), work areas, high-touch areas, etc.
  • Assist with daily set-up and clean-up as directed by the lab supervisors and faculty who may use the area.
  • Assist in checking out and returning equipment.
  • Assist in scheduling lab practice time.
  • Process, restock, and re-organize supplies.
  • Maintain neat and organized supply carts and Lab store room.
  • Assist in locating supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting minor technology related issues
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
