Research Assistant: History of Oshkosh and Taxes
Work in the UW Oshkosh Archives (3rd floor of Polk Library, Oshkosh campus) and the Oshkosh Public Museum Archives (1331 Algoma Boulevard, Oshkosh), looking at manuscript sources of tax payments. The successful applicant(s) will assist Dr. Gabriel Loiacono in learning about the past of local taxation in Oshkosh. The Research Assistant will look through government tax records to trace who paid what and why, from the 1830s through the Twentieth Century.
Students will be paid through a grant from the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership. Work entails 25-50 total hours in Fall semester/January Term, with possibility of continuing in Spring semester/May Term.
