Student Assistant - Titan Central Information Specialist

Work schedule varies: varies; hours of operation are M-Th 730am-700pm, F 730am-600pm, Sat & Sun 1000am-400pm

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Titan Central Manager and Titan Central Lead Staff, this position will assist with daily operations of Titan Central. Titan Central is located in Reeve Memorial Union and provides a wide variety of services to students, staff, faculty and the UWO campus community. Titan Central is the main information desk on campus and is responsible for answering/transferring the main phone line for the University. Titan Central is also responsible for the distribution of campus ID cards and the administration of the Titan Dollars program, which includes monetary deposits to the ID card. Additional services include a contract postal station, dry cleaning pickup and drop-off service, passport photo services, laptop checkout for students and the main point of contact for campus lost and found.

  1. Operate main telephone switchboard by answering and processing all incoming telephone calls to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
  2. Act as an information reference both on the telephone and for customers at the service desk.
  3. Create and produce TitanCards using specialized equipment following very stringent guidelines.
  4. Complete Titan Dollars deposits accurately following proper procedures.
  5. Operate CARS unit postal equipment and complete postal transactions using advanced postal procedures.
  6. Operate cash register.
  7. Open and close Titan Central properly following proper procedures.
  8. Check out laptop computers following proper procedures.
  9. Process items turned in as lost and found and assist customers with retrieving items belonging to them.
  10. Create passport photos following federal regulations.
  11. Filing and other clerical and miscellaneous tasks as instructed by supervisor.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, ability to work in a team environment, effective verbal and written communication skills, experience with cash handling preferred, knowledge of campus layout and services, able to lift up to 10 lbs, and the ability to learn new software programs.
