Titan Welcome Leader
New Student and Family Programs is searching for 25 Titan Welcome Leaders to serve as mentors and role models for new students. Titan Welcome Leaders facilitate conversations about what it means to be a UW Oshkosh student, bring new titans to Titan Welcome Events, help new students get to know each other, provide information about campus resources, etc.
Compensation and Benefits
- $200 stipend
- Titan Welcome Leader staff apparel
- Free meals for opening weekend
- Early move-in to your residence hall (if needed)
- Leadership, public speaking, and relationship building experience
- Build professional relationships with faculty, staff, and other students
- Service/volunteer hours counted
Time Commitments
Training:
- Thursday, May 2 - 5:00-6:30pm - Dinner & Team Builder (come up with x2 icebreaker activities)
- Thursday, August 29 - 4:30-5:30pm - Check-in/pick-up materials/shirts
- Friday, August 30 - 9:00am - 4:00pm - Training (lunch provided)
Titan Welcome program dates:
- Friday, August 30 - 4:00-6:30pm, optional hours 6:30-10:00pm
- Saturday, August 31 - 8:00am- ~3:00pm & 4:30pm- ~9:00pm
- Sunday, September 1 - 11:00am- ~4:00pm

- Serve as a positive role model for new students and as an ambassador of UW Oshkosh
Requirements
- Enrolled as a UWO student for Fall 2024
- Completed at least one full semester at UWO
- Remain in good disciplinary status with UWO
- Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Engagement in on-campus or community co-curricular experiences
Expectations
- Reliable, prompt, and display good decision-making skills
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude about UW Oshkosh and new student programs
- Ability to make announcements and facilitate discussion in a variety of formal and informal settings
- Patient, a good listener, and supportive and understanding of the struggles of students in transition
- Perform work both independently and as a member of a team
- Serve as a role model for new students inclusive of abiding by all UWO policies and local/state laws
- Failure to abide by university policies and/or state/federal law may be cause for removal from the position. Titan Welcome Leaders are expected to work collaboratively and respectfully with all university personnel and to represent themselves and UWO in an appropriate and respectful manner in all communications and programs (including UWO and personal Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
