ABOUT LEADERS IGNITING TRANSFORMATION:
Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT) is a youth of color-led independent nonprofit. Founded in 2017, LIT builds leadership skills through engaging in values-based issue and electoral organizing, direct action, and advocacy for public policy. We organize young people in UW-system campuses communities to build independent political power for social, racial, and economic justice.
Election Fellow
Leaders Igniting Transformation is seeking dynamic, inspiring part-time Election Fellows to lead our voter engagement, education, and registration efforts across several University of Wisconsin campuses.
As a fellow within the College Department, you’ll be responsible for contributing to these various focus areas:
Voter Engagement - 80%
- Collect Pledge to Vote cards (amount will vary by campus size)
- Collaborate with traditional LIT fellows to maximize our electoral reach on campus
- Attend chapter meetings to provide election events and outreach updates (30 minutes)
- Weekly outreach and tabling
- Consistently engage in 1:1 meetings with new and current members/volunteers
- Plan and execute voter education events on campus (2-3 per semester)
- Plan and execute voter registration events (2-3 per semester)
- Partner with other student organizations on campus to plan and execute events
Admin - 20%
- Weekly check-in with supervisor
- Weekly team trainings
- Data entry

Logistics:
- Virtual Orientation: August 20th & 21st 4:30-6:30pm
- Program Length: August 20th - November 8th (12 weeks)
- Time commitment: 10 hours/week
- Compensation: $17/hr
- Part-time, nonexempt
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Must commit to working 10 hours a week.
- Must be enrolled at a UW system school full-time (UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, or UW-Whitewater, Marquette University, MSOE, and MATC).
- Must have a commitment to learning and being in a community with a diverse staff from various racial & ethnic, gender, sexual, economic, and immigration status backgrounds.
- Must be willing to be deeply engaged with their campus community through outreach with other students, professional staff, and other organizations.
- Must have access to reliable Wifi and be able to attend virtual meetings.
