Gameday Operations Intern (STEP)

The Gameday Operations Intern is responsible for setup and coordination of all activities and setup/tear down procedures related to a specific athletic event. This is includes but is not limited to setting up tables, video equipment, and any other equipment necessary. Additionally, the Gameday Operations Intern is responsible for assisting with the end of the year corporate sponsor proof or performances, including photography of sponsored elements throughout Oshkosh Sports Complex and Kolf Sports Center. The Gameday Operations Intern will be expected to work gamedays and be flexible in a variety of positions such as camera operation, tricaster , showcontrol, and switcher operation. The Gameday Operation Intern will receive training on all equipment related to the position. You will report to Athletic department Multimedia Coordinator. That position will be interviewing the prospective candidates. All applications received for this position will be sent for review.

Gameday Operations (Videoboard/Setup) Expectations 

  • Become familiar with Daktronics Show Control Systems.
  • Take the lead in the takedown of media tables ensuring that ports and fiber cables are always covered and stored properly to prevent damage.
  • Operate the videoboard and music in-game appropriately and effectively.
  • Develop an understanding of sport-specific terminology.
  • Assist with scripting during office hours.
  • Assist with takedown, setup or other duties as needed.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • January and late May/early June availability is a plus.
  • Opportunities to learn and operate graphic design software are also available.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

All internship candidates applying for a position in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Athletic Department must meet the following requirements:

• Must be available to work on evenings and weekends, as well as during normal business hours.

• Students participating in the STEP program are required to complete their paid hours within the office or at athletic events, unless authorized by Athletic Director.

• Outgoing personality with the ability to make large-group presentations.

• Willing to be flexible on the job and assist where needed.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (writing, phone etiquette, conversational, etc) as well as strong attention to detail.

• Must have working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite as well as some experience using a digital camera.

• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting to meet multiple project goals.

• Must be able take initiative, see tasks through to completion, and problem solve.

• Ability to work with sensitive information without discussing outside of the team.

• Willing to work extra hours as needed.
