Student Law Enforcement Dispatcher

The main purpose of the student Law Enforcement Dispatcher is to answer incoming non-emergency calls for police, ems and fire; obtain relevant information in a timely manner; enter call information accurately; dispatch officers to campus locations to provide services; work with other university departments, surrounding police agencies and numerous government programs to ensure safety and protection to our campus communities.

A majority of the hours are evenings and weekends when full-time staff is not scheduled to work. We are open 24/7 and have three 8-hour shifts per day. Currently full-time staff works 8am-4pm and midnight - 8am, Monday through Friday. This necessitates part-time dispatchers to fill the 4pm-midnight Monday - Friday shifts, and all three shifts Saturdays and Sundays.

Eligible for employment in the U.S.; at least 18 years of age; currently enrolled at any college with a  minimum of 6 credits; no felony convictions; possess exceptional organizational and observation skills; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to react quickly and effectively to stressful situations; ability to handle several tasks simultaneously; ability to use necessary equipment; be of good character, “free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition which might adversely affect performance” as a student Law Enforcement Dispatcher. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and breaks and during the summer is preferred.
