Student Maintenance Assistant

If you enjoy doing hands on work and taking pride in a job well done, you should explore working with the UWO Facilities Maintenance Department.  We are currently taking applications for a Student Maintenance Assistant.  This role would perform a variety of tasks including but no limited to: Changing HVAC filters, testing electrical receptacles, checking thermostats, painting, and repairing windows.  

No experience is necessary but the ideal candidate will: 

  1. Communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, and coworkers.
  2. Always exercise good judgment.
  3. Recognize safety concerns and adhere to safety procedures.
  4. Have the ability to learn and use maintenance related equipment.
  5. Have the ability to work independently or part of a group.

Additional qualifications are:

  1. Must be enrolled as full-time student during the period of employment.
  2. Must be able to move items weighing 25 pounds.
  3. Be able to move and position self to work on repairs for long periods of time.
  4. Ability to perform work in both indoor and outdoor conditions that are distracting and uncomfortable.
  5. Must be able to utilize proper PPE such as eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and dust mask.
  6. The ideal candidate will have possessed a valid driver's license for a minimum of 2 years so they may apply for a Vehicle Use Authorization upon hire.

Working hours are Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:00PM but we will work around student's schedules.
