Residence Life Desk Manager Position
General Info:
The Residence Life Desk Manager is responsible for the management of the front desk program in the assigned residence hall, including supervision of Desk Workers. This role requires strong supervisory, administrative and communication skills.
Description of the broad function and scope of the position:
Supervision:
- Hire, train and supervise Desk Workers for hall
- Develop and maintain a standard and culture of excellent customer service
- Schedule Desk Workers to ensure all hours of desk operation are fully staffed, including during academic break periods
- Conduct onboarding and ongoing training to ensure desk workers can execute all necessary desk functions.
- Complete evaluations of desk workers each semester
- Work with the Desk Coordinator and Residence Hall Director as necessary to ensure desk worker timesheets are completed accurately and submitted by deadlines
- In conjunction with the Desk Coordinator and Residence Hall Director, manage any desk worker performance issues
- Meet regularly with Desk Manager group and Desk Coordinator
Administrative:
- Conduct weekly key audits
- Manage the hall equipment check out process and inventory of equipment
- Manage the inventory of office supplies
- Coordinate hall mail distribution
- Establish a system at the desk to ensure proper execution of room changes
Communication
- Communicate with Desk Worker staff on a regular basis through a combination of in-person, written (memos/emails) and verbal (phone call) methods
- Meet regularly with the Residence Hall Director of the assigned hall and with the Desk Coordinator on an individual basis as necessary
The Desk Manager position is a 15-20 hour per week position during the academic year, including both J-Term and May Term. Desk Managers may be required to work the desk during academic break periods (ex. Thanksgiving, Winter Break, etc.) in order to ensure hours of operation are met. The position begins on Monday, August 18, 2025. Desk Managers will work up to 40 hours per week during the time period of Monday, August 18-Monday, September 1, 2025.
